Past Projects I

(Bauhaus-University Weimar & University at Buffalo, 2008 - 2012)

Ever since I had switched from studying architecture and urban planning to media technology I missed the three-dimensional and locative aspects in my work. Electronic media, as it was taught in my first degree programme, was purely screen-based and bore no relationship to its environment and space in general. This was one of the reasons why I decided to continue my studies, and to study media architecture in particular. The following pages provide an overview of projects, iStudy and Leuchtenschwarm, undertaken during my first year at the Bauhaus-University Weimar (2008/09) and the projects time(space)2time and Traces developed during my semester abroad at the University at Buffalo (2009), ranging from spatial interfaces and media installations to locative and temporal mobile applications. They also detail my dissertation project, an augmented interactive surface, the Augmented Urban Model (2011).
